I don’t think it’s clear how to set up a goal from this video. Go to your list of Website Profiles. Decide which profile you wish to use, and choose “Edit” from the “Actions” column on the right-hand side. That’s where you’ll find the “Goals” section in this video.

Maybe the title of this metric is unclear. If you just want to see the percentage of traffic to the app form came from the admissions home page, why not look at the app form page details, then click Navigation Summary and look at the % from the home page? But this tutorial wants us to setup a goal, which means a conversion. What if the admissions app is not hosted on our site? Not to mention that a visitor could take any number of paths from the admission home page to the app form, so creating a funnel seems a bit limiting here (even though that’s essentially what we’re doing by looking at the Navigation Summary).

I agree. I don’t think the information I am providing here is at all correct. Plus our online application portal is on a different server so I can’t follow the funnel all the way there.

Sorry for the delay in my answer.

    You’re right.

However, we chose to use a goal to show how to track a conversion. This benchmarking survey is a way to collect and share meaningful data but also to teach higher ed professionals how to use their analytics tool – hence our choice in this specific case.
