12 Metrics

Below are the 12 metrics we’d like you to track and share with us, so we can compile benchmarking data and share it with the larger higher ed community to start the Online Analytics Revolution.

  1. Total visits
  2. Total page views
  3. Average time on site
  4. Average bounce rate (site and homepage)
  5. % new visits
  6. Total direct visits
  7. Total search engine visits with *branded* search terms (learn how to set up a segment to get that metrics in Google Analytics)
  8. Visitor Recency
  9. Visitor Loyalty
  10. % of traffic from admissions homepage to application form page (learn how to set up a goal to get that metrics in Google Analytics)
  11. Total visits from social media sites (learn how to set up a segment to get that metrics in Google Analytics)
  12. Total visits from mobile devices (learn where to find this metrics in Google Analytics)

    Annual data for our college website (800 student liberal arts college). Mostly organic traffic (we have very little in the way of SEM ads).

    600,000 visits
    1691533 page views
    2.8 pages/visit
    60% bounce rate
    2:28 average time on site
    37% new visits.
